Since the days of the notorious Pinkerton guards, private security firms have been a reality in America, but the Bush Administration is relying to unprecedented degree on these firms for everything from emergency relief to military campaigns. A guest on October 19 edition of Bill Moyers’ Journal, Nation correspondent Jeremy Scahill describes his encounters with operatives of Blackwater USA, who had been sent to provide post-Katrina security in New Orleans even before FEMA arrived on the scene.
