Turning away from the US elections for a moment, we can find plenty of places suffering not from a hurricane of campaign cash, but from actual hurricanes, bringing with them immediate suffering but less coverage.

Haiti was all over the news when an earthquake hit the island months ago, but the coverage hasn’t lasted. By way of update—Hurricane Tomas dumped rain and flooded already-battered towns like Leogane over the weekend but the island’s said to have "dodged" the worst.
