Pundits are hopeful that Sunday’s presidential election in Ukraine will be a step towards national reconciliation after months of unrest. Dr. Stephen Cohen, appearing here on The John Batchelor Show, isn’t so sure it will have the anticipated salutary effect. The danger, he warns, is that if people in eastern Ukraine do not recognize the outcome of the election, then “arguably you’re worse off now than you were before the election, because a de facto partition has occurred.”
