The Nation‘s Washington editor Chris Hayes points out the missing pieces in Dick Cheney’s defense of the prison at Guantánamo Bay on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. In a stunning lack of self-awareness, Cheney dismisses the rights of the prisoners saying they “don’t abide by the laws of war”, presumably giving the Bush administration license to do the same in keeping them detained without legal recourse. If Obama holds fast to his campaign promise of closing down the prison, this will be one Cheney legacy that won’t stick around for a very long time.
