In recent weeks, Rush Limbaugh and Co. have repeated their stated desire to see the president, and presumably the country he leads, fail. The Nation‘s Washington, DC editor Christopher Hayes suggests that this “economic nihilism” makes it difficult for Republicans to take part in meaningful policy debates or communicate with people who operate outside the right wing echo chamber.
