With protests in Wisconsin now in their third week, tensions are running high among the state Republicans who have stonewalled any effort at compromise or negotiation with public-sector workers and their allies. With rumors of at least one GOP Senator considering a No vote on Governor Scott Walker’s anti-worker budget proposal, the Republicans are starting to feel the pressure of the massive demonstrations that have flooded Madison and show no sign of abating.
The demonstration on Saturday, February 26 alone drew an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 supporters in Madison, and Wisconsinites continue to protest at the state’s Capitol. Photos and reports have been pouring in from Wisconsin from Nation readers, and the following slides feature a few of the stirring images we have received from this weekend’s protests.
