To reconnect with the Latino vote that helped elect him in 2008, Obama needs to take two important steps, says Dr. Soto.
If President Barack Obama wants to regain the support of a Latino population that helped send him to the White House in 2008, his administration will have to deliver new focus and action on issues the community considers most pressing, says Dr. Victoria DeFrancesco Soto in this episode of Nation Conversations with executive editor Betsy Reed. But while comprehensive immigration reform is a continual concern for many in the Latino community, Obama will have to go beyond that issue to also focus on improving schools and creating jobs if he wants to attract a wide spectrum of Latino voters.
