Barbara Brandon-Croft

Barbara Brandon-Croft became the nation’s first Black woman cartoonist to cross the color line into the mainstream press in 1989 with her cartoon feature "Where I’m Coming From," which first appeared in The Detroit Free Press. In 1991, Universal Press Syndicate began distributing her strip in over sixty mainstream newspapers internationally until 2005. I continue to put pen to paper to offer my brand of social commentary online after syndication, mostly out of necessity.
