Trip Details

Immerse yourself in the South Africa rarely seen on tours with this very special Nation itinerary. Our 11-day program features private meetings with former freedom fighters who share their singular historic experiences and help us understand the profound changes in South Africa since apartheid over thirty years ago.

We’ll explore beautiful Cape Town, tour bustling Johannesburg and Soweto, and spend time in the gorgeous wine country. Throughout the program we will attend lectures and meetings with journalists, activists, artists, and entrepreneurs who are shaping the new South Africa. Our program ends with two nights at a remote safari lodge in the Karongwe Reserve, where we’ll see the “big five” (and a lot more!) and learn about critical conservation efforts. Join us for an in-depth exploration of the complicated yet inspiring country of South Africa.

“This was the best Nation trip ever!  Fabulous!” – Courtney C, MA (four time Nation traveler)
